His eyes darted quickly around the room, searching, looking. He ran a nervous hand through his freshly washed hair and waited. He listened, everything was quiet except for the beating of his heart. He heard the footsteps, loud and resonating, coming down the staircase. He twisted his hands together, and tried to compose himself, feeling out of place in the room.
